Reading the Wisdom of Athena 1000 game sheet so you do not have to

The published return of 96.00 percent is an average taken over more rounds than any one player will ever see. It tells you the size of the house edge and nothing about the order in which wins and losses arrive; short sessions routinely land nowhere near it. For the authoritative figure, open the official game sheet from inside the game — it is the binding source, and it reflects the exact build the operator has licensed, which can differ from the default.

Every mechanic listed here shapes the same published average; none of them changes it in your favour.

• Winning symbols vanish and new ones fall into the gaps, so a single round can chain several payout events before it settles.
• Enough matching symbols pay wherever they land, which makes position irrelevant and paylines nonexistent.
• A scatter-triggered bonus hands out free spins — rounds that cost nothing extra but follow the same math.
• Multiplier symbols scale the wins they touch, which concentrates the game's returns into fewer, heavier moments.

The cheapest education in Wisdom of Athena 1000 is its demo mode, which runs the same math with credits that cost nothing and pay nothing. Learn the rhythm there — the quiet stretches especially, because they are part of the design, not a malfunction. If you later play for money, set a budget before the first round and treat the spend as entertainment; the published average already assumes the house keeps its share.
